The Angel and the Bad Man
Jesse Lewis and the Sandy Hook Shooting
Note to the Reader: The topic was challenging, intense, and yet, very uplifting. However, the roles of the Minor Planets I chose for its analysis are both spiritually and astrologically complex. New readers may find it helpful to review the Minor Planet Basics.
This piece is rather long, so settle in with a cup of coffee, and let’s begin.
Sandy Hook
On the morning of December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza shot his mother to death before proceeding to Sandy Hook Elementary School. He would take 28 lives including his own that day, 20 of them belonging to children.
On the way to school that morning, 6 year-old Jesse Lewis traced the words “I love you” in the frost on his mother’s car window. Barely an hour later, he would find himself amidst the chaos of his classroom, shouting “Run!” as Adam Lanza paused to reload his Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle. Jesse did not waste those critical seconds. He bravely faced the gunman and used that precious time to direct nine of his classmates to safety before Adam Lanza shot him in the head.
Just a few days before his murder, Jesse had a very bad dream. He made a drawing of what he had seen, and called it “The Angel and the Bad Man”, reproduced here with the permission of his mother, Scarlett Lewis.
We will explore two broad themes: that of the Angel, and that of its counterpart, the Bad Man, whose astrology is carried by two separate, but related forces, Evil and its sidekick, the Spirit of Possession. We will also examine the charts for clues about the ultimate meaning of this terrible event.
While the base chart for our analysis is that of Jesse Lewis, let’s first take a look at the Sandy Hook school shooting for context.

Jesse McCord Lewis
Now, let’s meet Jesse, the young hero who was murdered after saving nine of his classmates:
Jesse Lewis (JES): 30 June 2006, 6:03 p.m., Danbury, CT (birth data shared with his mother’s kind permission).
Jesse’s Yods at 8° between Sun, Moon, Chiron and Ascendant carry the image of someone who came here on a mission. Notice that Jesse’s Sun is perfectly conjunct MP Angel, just 1° from his 8th house cusp, with Moon in perfect sextile. Jesse‘s mission was certainly aligned with his Angel, but Chiron on the Sun/Moon midpoint presented a crisis that cost him his life.

Look back at Jesse’s chart for a moment. Do you see the Angel in the Yod aspects? His head is on Jesse’s Sun MP Angel. Quite remarkable.
Also note the position of MP McCord, his middle name, on Jesse’s AC. Jesse was named for a special great-grandfather who is remembered for his bravery, wits, and adventurous spirit, just as his namesake Jesse is.
These Yods at 8° involve the Fixed Star Adhab in the constellation of the sacrificial maiden Andromeda, where, as legend has it, the dark planet Dybbuk lurks deep within her domain. We will see further down the important role it plays in the fulfillment of Jesse’s mission.
The Angel and the Bad Man
Now we will test the validity of the MPs to represent Jesse’s dream of “the Angel and the Bad Man” by synastry with the Sandy Hook Shooting (SAND) chart, all orbs < 1°:

It is quite poignant to see that at the moment of the shooting SAND MP Angel was a mere two minutes of arc beyond Jesse’s natal Moon. This seems to affirm his Angel’s comforting presence amidst the violence of the events that surrounded him and his classmates. It also confirms the natal placement of JES MP Angel on his Sun, reassuring us that Jesse was covered at birth, and at death, by the unequivocal presence of his Angel, strengthening him for his mission.

These elements clearly confirm the validity of these MPs as emblems of the dream. They also specify the involvement of Adam Lanza through the significant placement of SAND MP Adam in alignment with JES MP Schott, representing the violent act that connected them.
The meaning is self-evident. We can see it all with just these five MPs: the dream, the Angel and the Bad Man, the gun violence, and Adam Lanza.
The Message
When Jesse’s mother returned home after identifying his body at the school, no heart could have been more broken. Like many parents in those days, she kept a chalkboard in the kitchen for family messages. Out of habit, she glanced at it as she came in.
There, in Jesse’s ebullient childish hand, she read a message she’d overlooked in the scramble of the school day morning: “NoRuRtiNg HeLinn LoVe”, which translates into grown-up as “Nurturing, healing, love.”
As she took in the meaning of Jesse’s message, Scarlett had an epiphany. She knew she was meant to take his message of love to the world.
Speaking of the message he left on the chalkboard, she said, “He knew he didn’t have a lot of time. He wanted to leave a message of comfort for us, and inspiration for the World. This is what we need to survive and thrive.”
This became the impetus for her Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, aka “Choose Love”, whose mission is to teach others how to choose love over anger. While Scarlett Lewis has received worldwide attention and many honors for her tireless work in this regard, she would be quick to say that the only thing that matters is choosing love.
Remarkably, there is an MP LewisLove.
I believe you will be impressed by its role in the charts, where it helps us see the force of Love at work in Sandy Hook on that terrible day. Before we conclude with a look at MP LewisLove, we have one last chart to consider.
Adam Lanza (ADAM): 22 April 1992, noon, Kingston, NH
Adam, Jesse and the Angel
When I look at the synastry between Jesse Lewis and Adam Lanza, I am struck by the perfection in the orbs of the extraordinary action of MP Angel. It is simply elegant. MP Angel was on Jesse’s Sun at birth, on his Moon as he died, and on his Pluto when Adam confronted him. The Angel had them both covered. The Angel was always with them.
But to fully understand the Angel, we must find the missing element to complete the T-square (red) implied by their synastry. Taking our cue from the gestalt of “explosive, buried anger” in the Sandy Hook 12th house, whose Mars just happens to be perfectly conjunct MP Angers, we must go deeper for the answers.
Adhab, MP Clingan and MP Messenger
When Jesse was born, the Fixed Star Adhab at 8°was tightly configured in his chart and significant across the synastries. Its association with the hidden planet Dybbuk ties it to the Jewish folk tradition of the dybbuk: “an evil spirit which enters into a living person, cleaves to his soul, causes mental illness” which must be exorcized1.
I added MP Clingan, a homolog for “clinging”, to represent the dybbuk, and MP Messenger to stand for Jesse’s last message.
Let’s look again at the previous chart, this time with the addition of MP Clingan and MP Messenger. See how they perfectly complete the T-square to MP Adam on Jesse’s Midheaven, with orbs < 1°.
Suddenly, Jesse’s 1st house Pluto is activated. On the day of the shooting, the Sun ignites this powerful figure, showing us that both he and Adam had roles to play in bringing us “the message”.

This is affirmed by his mother’s chart, seen in this detail of her synastry (red) with Jesse.
She is the one who created the meme of “Choose Love” to carry Jesse’s message to the world:

This tightly configured nexus, surrounded by Jesse’s Sun MP Angel and his loving Venus on his DC, smothers the dybbuk with Love. What better astrological representation for “choosing love to conquer hate” than this.
It shows how the dybbuk, or “possessing demonic spirit”, is connected to what happened at Sandy Hook, and how Adam carried it for the sake of the message.
What do you suppose happened to Adam that the dybbuk might attach to him?
MP Sherlock
There is a certain critical facet of the Sandy Hook story that, until this writing, has never been publicly discussed. It concerns Mary Sherlach, the Sandy Hook school counselor, who was among the first to be shot that day.
While it is well known that Adam Lanza was repeatedly bullied as a young student at Sandy Hook, the nature of the school system’s response to his plight has been obscured. When Adam began to show signs of severe emotional distress, his family sought the help of counselor Mary Sherlach, but she denied them the special services to address his social and emotional needs. This important element, which speaks to the “why” of the tragedy, was never included in the official report.

We will use MP Sherlock as a homolog to represent her. We will see that Adam’s MP Sherlock is perfectly conjunct his South Node, “where things should be safe”, while her own MP Sherlock is on the IC, “the birth or origin”, of the shooting itself.
Let’s move on now to our final point of analysis, that of MP LewisLove.

This multi-synastry graphic includes the three principle charts, along with those for Mary Sherlach (SHER), Scarlett Lewis (MOM) and the Choose Love Movement (LOV).
Take a moment to study it.
Judging by this chart alone, where all six of the individual MP LewisLove’s are significantly configured with each other, and with five of the nodal pairs, I’d have to say that the murders at Sandy Hook, horrific as they are, were a vector from Love into our reality, meant to awaken us to our numbness and failure. Its all about choosing Love.

Scarlett Lewis has repeatedly stated that “if only someone had helped Adam, his need to express his anger in such a harmful way might have been avoided”. She has never felt anger or blame towards Adam himself, only towards those who failed him.
Afterword
MP LewisLove was just another random near earth object, minding its own business way out there in space, until we tapped him on the shoulder. He’d never even thought about being in a chart, much less of taking the lead. But he has proven his ability to contribute to our understanding of what really happened at Sandy Hook, an event that united the shooter and the slain in the delivery of a message that seems orchestrated by Heaven.
Yes, there was Evil that day, but the meaning of Sandy Hook is clear: when we forget to love, or anger is allowed to fester, Evil will always come to the fore. The sacrifice of Jesse, Adam and the others who died at Sandy Hook reminds us of what can happen when Evil has its way.

So remember, if you ever find yourself face to face with Evil, just do what Jesse did.
